FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Is there a deadline to apply for asylum?

As a general rule, the application is filed within one year of your last entry into the United States, though exceptions exist. If
more time has passed; it is still worth having us review your case.

I received a notice to appear in court — what should I do?

Do not miss the hearing: an absence can result in a removal order against you. Contact us immediately so we can review the notice and prepare your defense in time.

Can I work while my asylum case is pending?

In many cases you may apply for work authorization once the application has been pending for a certain period. We walk you through the current requirements and timing in the consultation.

I already have a removal order — is there anything left to do?

Depending on the circumstances, motions to reopen or reconsider, or other forms of relief, may be available. We review
your full record before recommending a path.
